Dan Johnson

Dan Johnson is a seasoned leader and full-stack architect with more than 30 years of experience spanning networking, servers, operating systems, programming, databases, and engineering management. His expertise covers physical, virtual, cloud, and security environments. Dan has held positions at IBM, eNucleus, SCI, Electronic Arts, PlayerScale, Yahoo, and several startups, where he has architected, designed, and implemented full infrastructures including global high-performance distributed systems.
Dan has contracted with multiple startups leading the architecture for scaling, networking, and security, helping them grow from hundreds of thousands to millions of users.
As VP of Network Engineering for PlayerScale, Dan helped build the turnkey backend platform for game developers that was acquired by Yahoo in 2012. At Yahoo, he served as Engineering and Operations Manager for games.yahoo.com, leading the team that re-architected the site using new technology and reduced consumer load times by over 50%.
As CTO for Super Computer International (SCI), Dan architected the hardware and software backend for high-performance video gaming systems, flying to data centers worldwide to lead the buildout. SCI was acquired by Electronic Arts in 2007, after which Dan established and led EA’s Atlanta studio, driving the full product cycle of a large online consumer gaming portal and coordinating efforts across global game studios.
